Baker

Join a weekend bake in one of our community kitchens. Recipes, ingredients, and aprons provided — bring clean hands and strong opinions about chocolate.

Run the folding table at games, markets, and events. You'll learn to count change fast and talk about justice faster.

No SOJ at your school? Start one. We provide the playbook, starter funds, and a mentor chapter. You provide the ovens.

Price signs, posters, the Instagram. If you can make a bake sale look like a gallery opening, we need you.

Before you ask

Do I need baking experience to join?

None. Our head baker started with a box mix. Every new baker is paired with a veteran for their first three bakes, and honestly, the burnt batches make the best stories.

Where does the money actually go?

100% of proceeds go to our four partner cause areas: hunger relief (40%), education access (25%), shelter & housing (20%), and legal aid (15%). Ingredients and supplies are covered separately by local business sponsors, and we publish a full monthly ledger.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes — Serving of Justice is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 88-2914407). You'll get a receipt for any direct donation. Cookie purchases, sadly, are just delicious.

Can I start a chapter at my school?

If you're a middle or high school student anywhere in the county, yes. Fill out the form with 'Chapter Founder' selected and we'll send the starter kit — playbook, seed funding, and a mentor chapter lead.

Where can I buy the cookies?

Friday bake sales at all six chapter schools, the Maplewood Farmers Market on Saturdays, and monthly pop-ups you can catch on our Instagram. Event bundles can be requested through the form.
